Ray Kroc was actually the CEO of McDonalds and the man responsible for turning it into a massive global business by franchising it; the McDonalds brothers were the guys who actually invented the idea of McDonalds and ran their little store. Ray Kroc systemised the McDonalds brothers business and created franchises all around America. The McDonalds brothers never managed to expand their business beyond one store because they were the ones flipping the burgers, taking orders and making sure bills were paid. The difference was that Ray Kroc owned a business and the McDonalds brothers had jobs in their business.
